Physical Therapy

Each of our physical therapists utilize best-practice differential diagnostic techniques to evaluate orthopedic pain and problems and formulate an evidence-based treatment plan individualized for each patient. Treatment may include prescription of specific exercise, utilization of manual therapy techniques, myofascial decompression, or dry needling.


Personal Training

All of our personal training sessions are with a physical therapist, enabling sessions to be specifically tailored to each unique person's orthopedic needs. Oftentimes, we focus sessions on helping our client fix their issue through appropriate strength & mobility programming, while also working towards improved general strength and conditioning.


Group Classes

Our group classes are divided into two main groups. First, "Evoke Strength Community Classes" are hour-long sessions designed for up to 10 participants and typically occur in our early mornings and have options for membership, punch cards, or drop-in. Our group classes are divided into two main groups. Second, our "Semi-private" group strength classes are designed for 2-3 people to be able to share a private session, occur at various times throughout the day, can be either 45- or 60- minutes in length, and are available to purchase as individual sessions or in packages.

Dr. Kristen Carlin, PT, DPT, OCS, CLT, CF-L1 is the owner of Evoke Physio and a Pittsburgh native. She earned her BS from James Madison University in 2005, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chatham University in 2007. She is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and CrossFit Level 1 trainer. Dr. Carlin has extensive training in differential diagnostic evaluation as well as current, evidenced-based advanced manual therapy techniques. She has uniquely blended her experience in fitness with her expertise in orthopedic physical therapy to provide her clients with a fitness-forward approach to orthopedic pain and problems. She has special interest in treatment of neck and back pain, as well as management of the fitness athlete. In addition to her work at Evoke Physio, she enjoys teaching as adjunct faculty for Chatham University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. Dr. Carlin is an active member and resident of the Fox Chapel Community who enjoys outdoor activities and sports with her husband and 3 school-age children.

Dr. Alex Schoppen is a full-time orthopedic physical therapist at Evoke who does it all, whether he is coaching our early morning strength classes or working with private physical therapy or strength training clients throughout the day. Alex is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and is certified in lower extremity dry needling. He is passionate about helping his clients have less pain and optimize their strength
